TYPES OF BUMPS (BADMINTON)

-Serve or saque: we use it to begin the game, at first or before a pause in the game. In the serves we have to throw the shuttlecock diagonally to the opposite field.

-Clear: we usually do this bump in the last line of the field, we use it for send the shuttlecock so high and so far.

-Net drop or dejada: it is a difficult bump, we have to put the shuttlecock next to the network, near it.

-Drive: in this pump we throw the shuttlecock near the network, but in a parallel path.

-Lob: we pump the shuttlecock from near the network to the furthest part of the opposing field.

-Smash: We use it from the furthest part of our field to the opposing field, with an oblique path.

RULES OF BADMINTON

If you can put the shuttlecock on the floor of the opposing team field you have one point if you or your team was who make the serve (saque o servicio in Spanish) (like indiakas´ game).

We can´t pump the shuttlecock with our body or two consecutive.

We can´t touch the network with the shuttlecock and we can´t touch the network with our body. If the shuttlecock does this, or fall outside the lines of the field, or touch the ceiling or the walls, the last person who bump the shuttlecock makes a mistake, the name is fault (falta in Spanish).

If you make a fault, but you had the serve, you have to take the serve to the other team, but you do not score a point against (like in the indiakas´game).

Inside the field we have three parts, two areas for serves:

Right server area: we do the serves when we have pair points (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 14).

Left server area: we do the serves when we have impairs points (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 or 15).

The team who has fifteen points in the first place, wins the match.

OBJECTIVES AND MATERIALS

The objectives of this sport are:

-We have to get that the shuttlecock passes over the network and fall into the opposing team field.

-We have to try that the shuttlecock goes, as fast as possible, into the opposing team field, as far as possible.

The material of badminton is:

-Racket:

It is lighter than a tennis racket. It has three parts: head, rod and handle. We have to catch the racket with the minimum strength, except at the moment of bumping the shuttlecock. We have to do the strength with our wrist [not with the shoulder (in tennis we use the strength of our shoulder)].
We have to catch the racket in this way:

-Shuttlecock: we can see two types of shuttlecocks, with quills and synthetic.

HYSTORY OF BADMINTON

Badminton is a new sport. It was invented in 1870, although in the Antique age people played with rackets, for example, in China, people played with them 2000 years ago.

This sport was born in England. The aristocracy decided to put quills in a piece of cork and play with it with their rackets, they played in groups with three or four people inside. Now it is an individual sport or a double sport.
